It's funny how the things that seem most simple sometimes turn out to be most difficult. These cyclic control inspection covers took several hours to get to fit right. The recess in the floor pan where they fit is somewhat irregular in shape. So, there was a lot of trim and fit. I wish there was a template to make it easy to cut them to size.

After all the body panels have been fitted, the last seam left to fit is on the bottom rear of the ship. You can see there's more work to be done.

Chip is vacuum man while I trim the rear panels with the mighty Dremmel tool.

The final fit looks pretty good. When this picture was taken the cleco fasteners were still in place. I decided to substitute dzuse fasteners instead of the screws that normally hold this seam together. It will make it faster to disassemble for inspection.

Once we got the body panels to fit, I wanted to relieve some of the tension in the body panels. Now when the panel are unfastened they won't spring apart.

Well, here it is. There's still some work to be done installing the final fasteners around the windshield. There's still hours of work to be done to prepare the body for painting. The doors and the landing gear pants have not been fabricated yet. I'll get back to that after the the rest of the ship has been completed.

For now, I'm moving on to the mechanical construction.
